First a very fine web site, found its link while on the http://www.nationalchamps.net/Helmet_Project/ web site.

Now for the Lewis & Clark Conf -Historical Helmets-Marceline years from the 1978 - 1983 seasons. The "Tigers" logo are correct with the exception of the color/yrs as indicated. I will try and support this truth so that others with the same resources may also review the information.

1978 - This is the first year of the "Tiger" logo, its color Old Gold. A review of the 1978-79 yearbook should confirm this. Although the pictures are black and white, you can clearly see the logo is not a bright white as the white in the rest of the pictures. You can see this on page 78, and pg 80 in the senior group picture. This picture also shows the logo on both sides of the helmet. I believe this logo was used through 1981.
